Eugenia Paulicelli is the originator of the project and film on Ferdinando Sarmi. Her first encounter with him took place when she was conducting research on Michelangelo Antonioni’s first feature film Cronaca di un amore (Story of a Love Affair, 1950) for which Sarmi was the costume designer. He also acted in the film. From this discovery, Eugenia developed the project aimed at the reconstruction of the life and career of Sarmi in New York. The film is based on extensive archival research in the US and Italy. The film shoot took place in the former B. Altman & Company department store building where the CUNY Graduate Center is now located. The film aims to bring Sarmi back to life on Fifth Ave where his career started in 1952.
